Al-Qaeda Claims to Shoot Dead 2 French Journalists in Mali
Paris - Two French journalists have been killed in a desert area controlled by the rebels in Mali . Al - Qaeda group in North Africa claimed responsibility for the killings.
Mentioned that they were killed in retaliation for the " new penjahahan " French in Mali , the country 's former French colony .
Ghislaine Dupont ( 57 ) and Claude Verlon ( 55 ) was kidnapped and shot to death by the so-called French officials " terrorist group " . The incident occurred after they interviewed a spokesman for the Tuareg separatist group in the city Kidal, Mali on Saturday, November 2 ago .
Group Al - Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb ( AQIM ) as reported by news agency AFP on Thursday ( 07/11/2013 ) claim to be the perpetrator of the murder.
In a statement published Mauritanian news agency , Sahara Medias , the killing was the " minimum debt " of the French people and French President Francois Hollande on their new occupation .
" This operation is a response to the crimes committed against the people of Mali and the French occupation forces against Muslim African and international Azawad , " AQIM said in a statement calling on the people of northern Mali .
The above statement , a French presidential official said , the state will exert all efforts to ensure this crime punished , whoever is in charge .
AQIM said , the killing was carried out by a unit commander who led the Tuareg , Abdelkrim Targui , which is close to Abdelhamid Abou Zeid , one of the main leaders of AQIM in Mali who was killed in a battle with the French in northern Mali in February .
